Spectrem 4-TS Silicone Sealant

Product Overview: Spectrem 4-TS is a multi-component, neutral-curing, low-modulus silicone sealant designed for dynamically moving building joints with +/- 50% movement capability.

Key Applications:

  • EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems)
  • Expansion and control joints
  • Tilt-up panel joints
  • Precast concrete panel joints
  • Perimeter caulking (windows, doors, panels)

Features & Benefits:

  • Excellent Performance: Ideal for both new construction and renovation projects.
  • Colour Flexibility: Only silicone sealant that can be tinted on-site for custom colour matching.
  • No Primer Needed: Adheres tenaciously to most construction materials without a primer.
  • Versatile Use: Suitable for a wide range of applications.

Limitations:

  • Do not apply over damp or contaminated surfaces.
  • Not intended for continuous water immersion.

Packaging:

  • 1-1/2 gallon (5.7 L) kits requiring a separate colour pack (pigment) to be added.

Standard Colors:

  • Available in 53 standard colours and can be custom matched to virtually any colour upon request.

Applicable Standards:

  • Conforms to ASTM C920, Type M, Grade NS, Class 50, Use NT, G, M, A, and O
  • U.S. Federal Specification TT-S-00230, Class A
  • U.S. Federal Specification TT-S-001543A Class A
  • Canadian Standard CAN/CGSB-19.13-M87

Installation:

  • Joint Design: Suitable for vertical or horizontal joints designed per architectural/engineering practices. Joint width should be 4 times the anticipated movement, but not less than 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) wide.
  • Dimensions: For joints, 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) to 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) wide, the width-to-depth ratio should be equal. Joints 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) wide or greater should have a sealant depth of 1/2 inch (12.7 mm). The minimum joint size is 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch (6.4 mm by 6.4 mm).
  • Surface Preparation: Ensure the joint interface is sound, clean, and dry. Depending on the substrate, surface preparation may include wire brushing, grinding, sandblasting, solvent washing, and/or priming.
  • Tooling & Cleaning: Tooling is recommended immediately after application to ensure firm contact with the joint interface. Dry tooling is preferred, but tooling agents can be used. Excess sealant and smears can be removed with Xylol or Toluol before the sealant cures.
  • Joint Backing & Bond Breaking Tape: Use closed cell polyethylene backer rods to control the depth of the sealant bead. If joint depth prevents the use of joint backing, install adhesive-backed polyethylene tape to prevent three-sided adhesion. Joint backing must be dry at the time of sealant application.
